First we want to welcome Melanie Blodgett as a new contributing editor to Hip Hip Hooray! We’re really excited to have Melanie – we’ve been big fans of her blog, You’re My Fave. She’s got a great eye and is super talented and we’re looking forward to what she’ll share here on HHH.
Melanie is going to do a regular feature, Parties from the Bookshelf. We love the idea of seeking party inspiration from your child’s bookshelf. There are chances there’s a book that they can recite from memory (we’re looking at you Blue Hat, Green Hat!) and that they would be thrilled to see come to life. With a quick flip through the pages you can come up with a color scheme, decorations and activity ideas.
Here’s some inspiration by Melanie from If You Give a Moose a Muffin!
Fun, right? We’re so excited to have Melanie!

We love that story. That is too adorable!
SO fun! As a former 1st grade teacher, I am ALL over this:) I did my son’s 1st birthday party based on his “then” favorite book, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What DO You See?” I am positive that your amazing minds have no lack of ideas and such; but if you’d like to see what we did, here is a link to some pictures…:)

I love this, Mel! Devon’s birthday is coming up in a couple of months and since she doesn’t exactly have any character faves just yet, I was thinking of doing something book-related, since she loves when we read together. I absolutely adore the moose theme!
